Everyone wants to feel active and engaged in life. Over our long history spent caring for the elderly, we've developed numerous life enriching activities, suitable for every ability level, to share with our residents each day. To learn more about our Life Enriching Programs please read below.

Learn more about Harbor House Daily Activities.
Some activities are conducted in a group setting while other events are tailored to an individual resident's interests or hobbies and conducted one-on-one. Each activity is matched to your loved one's abilities to ensure success for everyone.
We strive to learn about our residents' accomplishments, occupations and hobbies. If your mother loved cooking, we'll make sure she's involved in helping in the kitchen. If Dad loved tinkering with old cars, we'll reminisce as a group about favorite cars from the past.

Learn more about Harbor House Reminiscence Therapy.
Life Story Books are one important component of the life enrichment program in which all residents participate. Life Story Books contain photos and mementos of important events in our residents' lives. Using Life Story Books will benefit your loved one by helping them to rekindle memories, connect with others and reminisce with family during visits. Seeing and experiencing a Life Story Book or Reminiscence Basket ignites the senses and adds a pleasure to a day. Each of these activities not only nurtures the mind, body and spirit of our residents, they help foster social interaction, create satisfying days, make life meaningful, and reduce the confusion and anxiety which can strike memory care residents.

Getting out into the community contributes to a healthy, happy life. Regular trips to favorite spots in town—restaurants, parks, social centers, museums, perhaps a local orchard--help our residents remain a part of the greater world and enable them to continue to be active and engaged.

Learn more about the Harbor House Spiritual Support program.
It is not unusual for older adults to question the purpose, direction and future of their lives. Spiritual support helps our residents renew hope and dignity. In fact, good spiritual care increases a resident's sense of self worth and makes it easier for him or her to adapt to life changes. At Harbor House, spiritual support is personalized to each individual resident. Spiritual activity can take the place of non-denominational or denominational services, or may involve the reading of inspirational poetry or other spirit-lifting activity. At Harbor House, our team members look for special ways to make each resident's day brighter and lighter.

Learn more about family events held at Harbor House.
Family members are always welcome at Harbor House. In addition, several festive family events are held each year, from a Hawaiian Luau to a Western BBQ to a Snowflake Ball. At these parties, not only do residents and their family members have fun together, but fellow Harbor House families are given the opportunity to come together, share experiences and create a supportive network. As another extension of this network, many Harbor House communities also facilitate support groups to help families adapt to the changes and challenges they face.
We strive to foster good communication through our newsletters and by connecting with the family throughout the month with update calls.
